Aonghus Celtic God-Irish God of Love

Aonghus Celtic God-Irish God of Love-
Aonghus Celtic God-Irish of Love
Having Another of his
Dreams of the Beautiful Maiden
Hello my dear Friends & Follower for today's post I am going to bring you into the world of the Celtic God-Irish of Love~
He is also know as "Angus the Young' and was considered the Irish God of Love. Aonghus was quite the youth and handsome God in ancient Celtic times. And it was said that he had four Doves/Birds flying about his head always.. Now I don't know the reason for this but, some have said the Doves symbolize kisses -- who inspired love in all who heard them. Others have said they were symbols used for the end of his love letters..Of course this is the legend of the Irish God of Love, so anything is possible. Aonghus was the Love child of the Celtic God Dagda  and Goddess Queen Boann-(Wife of Elcmar) at one time. It seems that Aonghus was to carry on the Traditions of his God like Parents and become a Love God. Learn how to play the harp and lure the ladies with his smooth lyrics that he would play. In alot of ways The God Aonghus seemed equivalent to that of a Cupid. However, he was differently a God and he kept his reputation as a Romantic Rascal of an God. Well his troubles doesn't end there. It seems that the Celtic-Irish God of Love was troubled by a dream of a young maiden, in which he instantly fell in love with, inside his dream. The was so troubled by the dream that he knew that only one that would believe in him and help him would be his Mother the Goddess Boann. So That is what Aonghus did. He came to his mother and asked for her help.

Of Love
And being the loving Mother that she was, the Goddess Boann did exactly that - she searched the whole country of Ireland for this beautiful maiden for her son Aonghus. However, after a year of searching she still hadn't found this maiden that her son had dreamt of. So the heart sick Aonghus, Father (Dagda Celtic God) was called upon to search for this Maiden that his son had dreamt of. But even his Father who searched Ireland for an entree year too , still didn't find the beautiful maiden that his son Aonghus had dreamed of. Makes you kinda wonder why would the parents of Gods/Goddesses believe there might be a beautiful Maiden just on the belief on a dream that their son had. Interesting Eh!  Well the tale doesn't end here.. Would you believe that the Bov the Red King of the Dananns in Munster and the Celtic God Dagda's aids, were called to search - after that year he did indeed find the Maiden. That was in his sons Aonghus God of Love Dream! Now its getting interesting .. I hope it is for you all too... So to re-cap the tale of the Irish-God of Love Aonghus who fell
Celtic God Dagda/Daghdha
Aonghus God of Love's
Father
Madly in love with a Maiden that who would visit him many times well he layed asleep. This beauitful maiden visied Aonghus in his dreams for over a year, and all this time he couldn't touch her because she would dissappear everytime he tried. So His mother
Boann searched first for her son on the beief that this maiden was real, all over Ireland, but was unable to find her after an year of searching . So then His father the God Dagahdha was enlisted to help his son. Well after a year of searching Ireland it seems that his father the Daghdha who in turn sought out Bodhbh, who was the Tuatha De' Danann King of Munster. So it seems that Bodhbh revealed that the maiden was Caer Lobharmheith and brough the God Aonghus to meet her at the Loch Beal Dragon (Dragon's Mouth) in Tipperary... It was then when, Bodhbh explained about Caer was from Sidh Uamhain - an 'Otherworld Residence' in Connacht. Then Ceaer's Father reveales to Daghdha( Aonghus father) that his daughter could change forms either into a bird or an lovely maiden girl on alternate years.
Aonghus God  and Ceaer
And the 150 Swans
Bodhbh continued the the story by saying that the folling Samhain (November) Ceaer her daughter would be in the form of a bird at the Loch Beal Dragan. So her faher instructed Aonghus to go there and call out to him.  And so Aonghus did as he was told, he followed Ceaer directions and found her in the shape of a beautiful white swan, in the company of one hundred fifty other beautiful swans. Once there he did as instructed by Ceaer's Father - and Aonghus called out to her. As soon as he did she flew out to Aonghus the God of Love and in that very moment, he too became a beautiful swan. They bothe embraced each other and flew three times around the lake...After that they flew together to Brugh na Boinne and put the dwellers of that place to sleep with their beautiful singing. From that day on, Ceaer remained with Aonghus in the Brugh na Boinne after that for the rest of their days.
So that is the tale of the Ancient Story of the Swans of Newgrange. The tale is quit ancient in the Celtic world due to the fact that the Ceaer was from an 'Otherworld Residence' which is quite intriguing, giving the tale a more interesting twist. It is said that it is so ancient in ireland that there is really not firm date on the original story...As most of the Irish stories have survieved over time by word of mouth by generation to generation... So though the legends of Newgrange and also swans one can say this tale may come from the distant epoch of neolithic Ireland.. Note: I did find another version to this tale - the part when Aonghus was taken to the lakes Dragon's Mouth, Ceaer's 'Otherworld Residence'. The entrance to her world... Once there he saw 150 maidens all chained with gold in pairs. At the base of the Dragons Mouth Aonghus the Celtic Irish God of Love spied the maiden in his dreams at once and her name was Ceaer, the daughter of Ethal and Anual, a prince of the Dananns of Connact. He was told that on November first Ceaer and all the other maidens will transform into swan for a year. Also by the parents of the Maiden Ceaer if he could identify her as a swan he could marry her. So he had to wait til November 1, the day that all the maidens 150 of them turned into Swans. So on that date Aonghus went out into the lake and called out to his love, and at once he had found her he turned into a swan himself and joined her. They flew off together singing such a beautiful song that all who heard them fell asleep for three days and nights. They were happy for all their days.. It seems that they had a son called 'Diarmuid Ua Duibhne' or Diarmuid of the Love Spot. It is said that one night while hunting Diarmuid met a maiden who made a magic love spot appear on his head and from then on no woman ever looked upon him with out falling in love with him... So the generation of Celitc Gods of Love continue you could say

.
Well I hope that you Enjoyed the Tale of the Celtic-Irish God of Love
